Our Australia Zoo-Glass House Mountains Tour Combo is an amazing opportunity to experience two of Sunshine Coast's must see destinations in the one trip.

We start this combo in the Glass House Mountains Tour, where you will be in awe as we wind our way through this magnificent and unique landscape. You will have the best of both worlds with our experienced local guide taking you to the best viewing locations of the Glass House Mountains from near and afar, including a small nature walk into the Glass House Mountains National Park to get a closer view at the biggest and tallest peak. A delicious dine-in lunch and drink at a lookout cafe in the Glass House Mountains is also included on this tour.

You will then be dropped at Australia Zoo in time to see the famous Wildlife Warriors show that includes many Australian animals and the crocodile feeding. Your entry ticket  to Australia Zoo is included and you will have 3.5 hours to explore this wonderful zoo. 

To further compliment this tour, we provide you with an experienced local guide and door to door pick-ups in a luxury vehicle with reclining seats and a USB port for each seat to charge your phones and cameras along the way.

ITINERARY

  • Our day begins with a nice country drive. The start of this tour may be shared with guests going to Australia Zoo, where we will drop them off on the way. So you will get to see what Australia Zoo look like on the outside.
  • We then make our way to the biggest of the Glass House Mountains, Mt Beerwah, where we will wind our way on the bus through various other Glass House Mountains to get there with amazing views.
  • You will be guided on a short walk into the Glass House Mountains National Park to a striking viewing area of Mt Beerwah, the biggest of all the Glass House Mountains.
  • Next you'll see the many faces of Mt Coonowrin as you see it from different angles, with a stop at the best viewing location.
  • Another scenic drive through forest and farms will land us at a lookout with a historic fire tower and views of all 14 peaks of the Glass House Mountains and beyond. 
  • A delicious lunch with a drink is included on this tour at a wonderful lookout cafe with a beautiful landscape view. Here you also have an opportunity to buy a souvenir if you wish.
  • After lunch we head back into the Glass House Mountains National Park to the best viewing location of Mt Tibrogargan and another little mountain we'll keep as a surprise.
  • Just as you thought you had see it all, we will go on yet another scenic drive between more of the Glass House Mountains towards the town called Glass House Mountains for one last stop.
  • We will then make our way to Australia Zoo and have you there in time for the Wildlife Warriors show and 4 hours to explore the zoo. Your entry ticket is included in this tour.
  • You will be picked up at 4:00pm and returned to your accommodation in time for sunset and dinner.

ITINERARY

  • You will start the day with a nice country drive to our first stop where you will enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee alongside the picturesque view atop Mapleton Falls.
  • A lovely ridgeline drive atop the Blackall Range will then land us in Montville Artisan Village, the prettiest and most unique little village on the hinterland.
  • You will begin your Montville experience by indulging in some of the finest artisan Belgian chocolates in the region with a chocolate tasting included at Montville's favourite chocolate factory. You will then have close to an hour to explore the wonderful Montville Artisan Village and its many novelty shops, galleries and artisan delights.
  • We will then go to a charming hinterland cottage cafe for your included lunch and drink. Attached to this cafe is shop filled with local produce, art and crafts.
  • Following lunch on weekdays, you will indulge in local cheese and wine (or other preferred drink) at the Maleny's very own cheese factory; and on weekends you will settle in at the local’s favourite winery and vineyard for a generous wine-tasting (or equivalent drink) overlooking the Sunshine Coast.
  • Next, a ridgeline drive will take us to a panoramic lookout with views of the entire Sunshine Coast coastline, from Noosa to Caloundra and as far as Moreton Island on a clear day.
  • We then journey further along the ridgeline for a scenic drive through the Maleny region, including a panoramic lookout where you will and experience one of the most stunning and photographed views in Australia, with unimpeded views of the picturesque Glass House Mountains.
  • We will then finish the day with at a place that our guests often refer to as a highlight, where we will take you on a guided nature walk through a mesmerising remnant old-growth rainforest with giant native trees, many singing birds, pademelons (wallabies) and more. This walk is 1.5km and relatively flat. For those who don't feel comfortable doing this walk, you can joyfully spend your time at the entrance, where there is a discovery centre and cafe with views of the Glass House Mountains. Glass House Mountains.
  • You can now recline your seats and enjoy the journey back down the mountain in comfort, and we will have you back to your accommodation in time for sunset and dinner.

This tour includes a one-way train ride on the Mary Valley Rattler classic steam locomotive between historical Gympie and Amamoor stations.

ITINERARY (Please note change of train type for February and March 2027. Details below)

  • You’ll be picked up to start the day with a beautiful scenic drive to the historical Gympie Station for your one-way journey on the Mary Valley Rattler classic steam locomotive. You will have time to explore the historical station and its museum, get a close look at the classic steam engine, buy a souvenir, and grab a drink from the station cafe if you wish.
  • All aboard!! You will then depart on your train for a one-way, one-hour experience on the Mary Valley Rattler classic steam locomotive to the historical Amamoor station. Here you will have time to appreciate this small country town and watch the steam engine get turned around on a historical turntable.
  • Next we take a nice country drive to a picturesque little town called Imbil, previously nominated as one of Queensland’s top tiny tourist towns. Here we’ll explore the corners of this pretty little town, including the town lookout with a panoramic views of the Mary Valley.
  • We then continue our scenic country drive to the heart of the Mary Valley, Kenilworth, where you will be treated to a delicious lunch and drink of your choosing. Don’t eat too much for lunch, because you will want to save room for the delicious donuts, chocolates and cheeses on offer in the main street of Kenilworth, that you will have free time to explore after lunch.
  • Your final experience on this tour will be a 1.2km guided fig tree walk through giant figs and a forest alive with birdsongs. This walk is paved and flat and optional. Alternatively, guest who don't feel comfortable doing this walk can enjoy the creekside park nearby the conjunction of the creek and the Mary River.
  • We will then complete our journey with another country drive towards the coast to drop you at your accommodation in time for sunset and dinner.

SILVER BULLET RAIL MOTOR - February and March 2027

  • During February and early March 2027, the Classic Rattler steam locomotive will be receiving maintenance and replaced with the historic Silver Bullet rail motor for your one-way train ride, before we pick you up from Amamoor Station to continue our tour through the Mary Valley.

    This Silver Bullet rail motor service will include a complimentary souvenir—a memento of your scenic adventure, as well as a delicious station made sweet treat, as you sip on a steaming cup of tea or coffee on the train.

    Apart from this change of train type, the remainder of our tour will operate as per usual.

Joel’s Journeys will pick-up and drop-off customers at their home or accommodation in Tewantin, Noosaville, Noosa Heads, Sunshine Beach, Sunrise Beach, Castaways Beach, Marcus Beach, Peregian Beach, Coolum Beach, Marcoola, Twin Waters, Maroochydore, Mooloolaba and anywhere in between these hubs. Please ensure you provide your pick-up address when you make the booking and make sure you are ready at your pick up address 10 minutes before your allocated pick up time.

Passenger loads of 12 or more guests are subject to the availability of a larger bus. Please provide us with as much notice as possible for group bookings of 12 to 24 guests.
